I have just started watercolors (as you may be able to tell ).

So, this is a watercolor Phoenix . I spent about 20-30 minutes on this particular piece. In my opinion, the Phoenix is by far one of the most brilliant mythical beasts designed . A reference photo was used for part of the time.
